Everything on https://rationaleservices.com is general information. It is not professional advice for your situation, and you should not act on it without talking to a qualified professional about your own facts. This page explains the limits of what the site tells you. Rationale Services publishes this site.
1. General information, not advice
The pages, guides, checklists, worksheets and examples on this site are educational. They are not accounting, bookkeeping, tax, payroll, business-licensing, legal, investment or insurance advice, and they are not an opinion on your facts.
Tax and payroll outcomes turn on details: your filing status, your entity type, your state and county, your contracts, your dates, your prior-year positions and dozens of other facts. A page written for a general audience cannot account for those. What is right for one taxpayer is wrong for another with a similar-sounding situation.
2. No professional relationship
Reading this site does not make you our client. Neither does sending a contact form, downloading a document, booking a call, emailing us or speaking with us about possible work.
We become your accountant only when we sign a written engagement letter with you that sets out the scope of the work. Until that happens, we have no duty to advise you, no duty to act, no duty to watch a filing deadline on your behalf and no professional duty of care to you. Do not assume we are working on something because you mentioned it.
If you have a deadline approaching, do not rely on this site or on an unanswered message. Call +1 (470) 359-5949.
3. Tax law changes, and this content is dated
The rules that affect the work we do change often, sometimes several times a year, and sometimes with retroactive effect. Nothing on this site tells you what a rule requires of you, when anything of yours is due, or what a government process involves.
Content on this site is correct only as of the date on the page, if a date is shown. We have no obligation to update any page, and an older page may describe a rule that no longer exists. Treat an undated page as potentially out of date. Verify anything you plan to rely on with the authority that issued it, or ask us.
4. Your circumstances are different
Examples, scenarios and sample numbers on this site are illustrations. They are simplified on purpose, and they leave out facts that would change the answer. Do not treat an example as a prediction of your result or as permission to take the same position on your own return.
5. No guarantee of any outcome
We do not guarantee results, and nothing on this site should be read as a promise of one. In particular, we do not guarantee:
- A refund, a refund amount, or how quickly a refund will arrive.
- A reduction in your tax liability or any particular amount of tax savings.
- That a deduction, credit or tax position will be accepted by a taxing authority.
- Approval of a business licence, permit, registration or renewal application.
- Approval of a loan, line of credit or grant, or the terms of one.
- That you will avoid penalties or interest.
- Any level of business revenue, profit, growth or valuation.
Taxing authorities, licensing bodies and lenders make their own decisions. We prepare and file what the engagement covers; we cannot control what they decide.
6. Third-party links and tools
This site links to other websites and may embed third-party tools, such as government filing portals, accounting software, scheduling and payment services. We provide those links for convenience. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse their content or their products, and we are not responsible for their accuracy, security, availability or privacy practices. A link is not a recommendation. Read their terms before you use them.
7. Testimonials and case studies
Any testimonial, review, client comment or case study on this site describes one client's experience. Individual results vary, and someone else's result does not predict yours. The facts behind a case study are simplified and may be altered to protect client confidentiality. No testimonial is published without the client's written permission.
8. What we are not
Our work is accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax return preparation and filing, and business-licensing paperwork. We do not perform audits, reviews, compilations or any other attest engagement, we do not produce formal business valuations, and we do not act for you before a tax authority. Outside that scope:
- Not investment advice. Nothing on this site recommends buying, selling or holding any security, fund or other investment, and nothing here is a solicitation to do so. We do not select investments, manage money or advise on securities.
- Not insurance advice. Nothing here recommends an insurance product or an insurer, and we do not place, broker or advise on insurance.
- Not legal advice. Nothing on this site is legal advice. We do not draft or interpret contracts, give opinions on legal liability, or act for you in a legal proceeding. Entity selection, operating agreements, employment disputes and litigation all need a lawyer.
- Not financial planning or wealth management unless your engagement letter says so in writing.
When your situation calls for one of these, we will tell you and, if you ask, suggest where to look. A referral is not an endorsement and we accept no responsibility for another professional's work.
9. What an engagement includes
Your engagement letter names the activities we will carry out for you and the activities we will not. Work we do not take on includes audits, reviews, compilations and other attest engagements, formal business valuations, and acting for you before a tax authority. If your situation needs any of those, we will say so and, if you ask, suggest where to look.
10. Forward-looking statements
Some content on this site looks ahead — what we expect to happen, or planned changes to our own services. These are our expectations at the time of writing, not facts, and what we expect does not always come about. We do not undertake to update a forward-looking statement when things change.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Rationale Services and its owners, members, officers, employees and contractors are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its contents. The full terms are in the limitation of liability section of our Terms of Use, which is incorporated here by reference. Liability for professional services actually performed under a signed engagement letter is governed by that letter.
12. Errors and omissions
We prepare this site carefully, but it may contain typographical errors, outdated figures, broken links, incomplete explanations or factual mistakes. We make no warranty that the site is accurate, complete, current or fit for any purpose. We may correct, change or remove content at any time without notice. If you spot an error, please tell us at office@rationaleservices.com so we can fix it.
13. Contact us
For advice about your own situation, contact us and we will tell you what an engagement would involve.
